ImageWerks 2007
- Pittsburgh–San Jose Road Trip
- First up, pictures I took whilst driving from Pittsburgh to San Jose between 2 Nov 2007 and 5 Nov 2007.
- Apartment
- A few snapshots of the interior of my first apartment in San Jose. This was the apartment in which I lived while Kelly was back in Pittsburgh doing the heavy lifting of getting the house ready for sale.
- Neighborhood
- A few photographs of the Japantown neighborhood in which we live. It's a delightful, pretty area.
- San Jose
- Downtown San Jose is much nicer than Pittsburgh; not nearly as small, far cleaner, and much more spacious.
- Heritage Rose Garden
- Finally, there is a big, beautiful rose garden, the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, about a five-minute drive up the street. These pictures don't get anywhere near close to doing the place justice. It is simply gorgeous, even this time of the year.
- Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph
- San Jose to take a look at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph. Simply gorgeous, especially during Christmas.
- Santa Cruz
- This addition to ImageWerks consists of about 100 pictures I took while visiting Santa Cruz on Saturday, 17 November. I was totally unprepared for the size of the waves, but the surfers were pretty happy about them, I'm sure. Today's visit reminded me of why I wanted to live on the west coast in the first place, particularly northern California: ocean, beach, fresh seafood, the sound of the surf on the beach and crashing against the rocks, and totally awesome views.
- Mount Hamilton
- It's called the Santa Clara valley, right? This implies that there are mountains, for some value of the term mountain, nearby. Here are just a few snapshots of Mount Hamilton, one of the peaks in the Diablo Range and, as it happens, home of the Lick Observatory.
- Guadalupe River Park
- Meanwhile, the Heritage Rose Garden I mentioned above is part of a larger park area known as the Guadalupe River Park. It is winter, after all, so there's not a lot going on there now, but it looks like a nice park to stroll through in season.
- Casa Frieden
- Spending Thanksgiving 2007 with my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew gave me the opportunity to take some pictures of their house.
- Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum & Planetarium
- I continued the vacation theme by visiting the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum & Planetarium after returning from my visit to Chico.
- NVIDIA Campus
- Next up, a few photographs of the NVIDIA campus in Santa Clara. This is just Buildings C and D. I work on the first floor of Building C.
- Campbell-area Neighboorhood
- This group of snapshots are some pictures of residential areas in Campbell, an incorporated area a few miles west of San Jose.
- TruckWerks
- I've changed my mind about trucks. Once we bought the house, we kept finding ourselves in situations in which we needed to bring home something larger than we could fit in the backseats or trunks of our cars. After a couple of delivery charges, I decided a truck would be far more convenient. I now own a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. This is TruckWerks.
- House Prep
- Kelly did all of the work getting our house in Pittsburgh ready to sell. Here's the visual record of some of the work she did.
- San Jose Views
- A few shots of the San Jose area taken from the roof of one of the parking structures at Westfield Valley Fair Mall on Stephens Creek Boulevard.
- Two Bedroom Apartment
- Photographs of the interior of the floorplan of the two-bedroom apartment into which Kelly and I moved. This isn't ours, though. We have a corner unit and lack a third-floor neighbor. As a result, we have a so-called cathedral ceiling in the living room.
- Henry W. Coe State Park
- Coe Park was delightful. I wish I'd had more time to stroll and dawdle. I didn't even have time to take the so-called Forest Trail, but I got some great photographs.
- Castle Rock State Park
- I've made two attempts to visit Castle Rock State Park. Each time, my blood sugar has crashed and I've had to cut the visit short, really before I even got started. Nonetheless, I've managed to take a few photographs.
- St. Joseph's Cathedral Basilica: Christmas 2007
- Simply beautiful. My camera and flash, not to mention my compositional skills (or lack of same) weren't up to the task of taking these pictures.
- San Jose Homes and Japantown Condos
- Here are some photographs of a few of the houses and condominiums near downtown San Jose and in the Japantown neighborhood in which Kelly and I live. Most of these were taken with an eye toward looking up their sale prices and specifics on the Internet. I also wanted to give Kelly and idea of what the area in which she would be living looked like.
- Penitencia Creek County Park
- Just your typical suburban park and trail, but pleasant nonetheless.
- Big Basin Redwoods State Park
- These are the biggest trees I've ever seen. No, Big Basin is not where you can drive through the center of a tree.
- Regional Medical Center of San Jose
- Some photographs of one of the hospitals close to where we live. I took these to give Kelly a sense of what the place looked like.
- Santa Clara Valley Medical Center
- Shots of another hospital close to our apartment. Also taken for Kelly's benefit before she was here to see it herself.
- Orlando 2007
- Kelly and I spent a week in Orlando during the last week of September. My camera was not working reliably, so Kelly took most of the photos.
